The new cannabinoids
New cannabinoids appear on the market at breakneck speed. The ones we will cover in this post were discovered during 2019-2021, but have only now found their way here in the aftermath of the cannabinoids now banned in Sweden - all cannabinoids listed below are thus still completely legal.
Initially, we have THCB (Tetrahydrocannabutol) which is present in less than 1% of the cannabis plant. It was discovered in 2019 together with the now-banned THCP, which had a brief visit to the Swedish market. THCB is similar to delta-9 in its chemical structure, but instead of a pentyl chain, it has a butyl chain of 4 carbon atoms. In total, THCB consists of 21 carbon atoms, 30 hydrogen atoms, and 2 oxygen atoms. Because there are only small trace amounts of THCB naturally, the substance must be produced via a laboratory, which is done by modifying the CBD molecule from legal hemp.
THCH also entered research in 2019. THCH (Tetrahydrocannabihexol) is a phytocannabinoid, which means that it is produced naturally in the plant. THCH has a longer n-hexyl side chain of 6 carbon atoms. Although it is a phytocannabinoid, the products on the market are not to be considered natural, but semi-synthetic. The process for producing THCH products is similar to that for producing THCP.
As a successor to THCP, THCPO (Tetrahydrocannabiphorol acetate) has entered the market, an acylated version of THCP where the acetate O is added, which provides higher binding affinity to the CB1 receptors and higher oxidative stability. It was synthesized in 2021 and is thus one of the youngest known cannabinoids. Adding acetate creates a change in the chemical structure with a side chain of 7 carbon atoms that makes it better bind to the body's endocannabinoid system.
And further through the alphabet comes an even more mysterious and rather unknown cannabinoid - THCjd (Tetrahydrocannabioctyl). There is almost no actual research to read about THCjd, but what mainly differentiates it from regular THC is the 8-carbon side chain, compared to delta 9-THC's 5 carbons. There are claims that THCjd should be found naturally in the plant, but there seems to be a lack of evidence to prove this, and this cannabinoid should therefore essentially be considered synthetic. It is said to be up to 19 times stronger than regular THC but, as mentioned, there is a lack of research to support the claim and it can only be considered rumors so far.
When it comes to new substances, one should always approach them with caution, especially when there is a lack of research support. Due to the small amount of research that is still available, as always, we sell cannabinoid products for aromatherapy, which is harmless and in itself seems to have a relaxing and mood-enhancing effect. Aromatherapy is a holistic healing treatment that is often offered at spas with aromatic plant extracts and essential oils - the treatment has also recently begun to gain ground and recognition in science and medicine. We ask our dear customers to please note that we do not take responsibility if you choose to use the products in a way other than indicated.
You are of course always welcome to contact us or stop by the store in Solna if you have any questions or concerns about our products.
